Zoranna Jones, PhD, assistant dean for student success and community engagement in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, was appointed to the board of directors for NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising.
The board of directors is primarily responsible for the strategic plan for NACADA, as well as its allocation of resources. NACADA promotes and supports quality academic advising in institutions of higher education to enhance the educational development of students.
“Academic advising is a critical piece of a student’s education, and this role allows me to be an advocate for academic advisors and their role in student success and outcomes,” Jones said. “By participating in this experience, I can be aware of research, best practices and trends in the field that can be implemented here at TCU.”
NACADA serves as an advocate for effective academic advising by providing a consulting and speaker service, as well as funding for research related to academic advising. Jones has been an active member since 2003.
“I’m look forwarding to being on the board, and I’m proud to represent TCU,” Jones said. “This appointment allows others to see that TCU and its employees are actively engaged and leading conversations in global organizations that support students and their success.”
